June 17 (Bloomberg) -- Palm oil production in Indonesia and Malaysia may increase next year as the La Nina weather pattern, which brings wetter-than-usual weather, boosts productivity, potentially hurting prices, according to OSK Investment Bank Bhd.

Mesothelioma’s Effect on Families

Though not directly exposed to asbestos in high concentrations, family and friends of workers who are heavily exposed are at some risk, as evidence shows. This contamination can come from the clothing of a someone who works with asbestos, living near an asbestos mine, plant or other location, breathing the air in those locations where asbestos exists is large quantities, drinking liquids that have been exposed to asbestos, eating foods grown in dirt or otherwise ingesting dirt that has been exposed to asbestos. Ultimately, exposing your family and friends to asbestos might cause one or more of them to develop mesothelioma many years later.

Exposure of Children

Asbestos fibers can be found in dirt and water supplies near workplaces that mine asbestos or use it extensively in industry. Children are known to drink more fluid per body size, and eat more dirt than adults. Children may ingest dirt by eating it directly, eating foods with dirty hands, or eating food that was dropped on the ground. Children’s lung structure is different than adults, and their fragile respiratory and digestive systems may be more susceptible to inhaled or ingested asbestos particles than an adult’s. Since mesothelioma does not show up until many years after the first exposure, 20 to 50 years by most estimates, it is difficult to estimate whether children are at greater risk than adults, though it is reasonable to consider this possibility.

Resources, Income and Health Care Benefits

If you become unable to work before reaching retirement age, you and your family will suffer the loss of your income and health benefits. Treatment for mesothelioma is expensive, so, even if you qualify for social security disability (SSD) and Medicare coverage, you will go many months, possibly years without income or Medicare coverage before your social security disability is approved, and another 25 months before you are eligible for Medicare.

If your social security disability application is approved, your income will be less than half what you are accustomed to earning, and Medicare does not cover all costs. You will have to pay insurance premiums for Medicare part A, B, (or C) and D, further reducing your usable income.

If you have not worked 40 quarters by the time you become disabled, you will not qualify for social security disability, but might qualify for supplemental security disability insurance (SSDI), and state Medicaid. SSDI is a significantly smaller income than SSD, and Medicaid is usually more limited medical coverage than Medicare, though there is no premium.

Quality of Life and Relationships

In addition to exposing family and friends to contamination from which they might later suffer health consequences, their lives, as well as these relationships, will be affected by your illness.

• If your wife was not formerly employed, she may need to go to work

• She will not be as available to care for you

• If your wife was already working, your income will be reduced to what she can bring in

• You are likely to have medical expenses that are not covered, even by Medicare

• You may need additional help with activities of daily living, such as dressing, fixing meals, taking medications, picking up prescriptions, traveling to the doctor, and more

• You may not be able to play with your children or grandchildren, or enjoy the company of friends and family as others your age might do

• You may find that fewer of them visit for social reasons

• Many friends, as well as some family members, will drift away, not knowing how to relate to you anymore

If you are fortunate enough to have good friends, they will likely be willing to help you, but your relationships will change along with your activities. Mesothelioma will cause your life will change in every way possible.

The Lion is mentioned in the Bible 119 times, 110 times in the Old Testament and nine times in the New Testament.

The Lion itself is not mentioned in the Noble Quran; however, wild beasts (wild animals) is mentioned once.

In the Bible, Ezekiel 1:3-16 Bible gives very strange characters for four living creatures; each of them has four faces and four wings. Their legs (of the living creatures with four faces) were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf’s foot. And they sparkled like burnished bronze.  The likeness of their faces were like the face of a man, and the face of a lion, the face of an ox on the left side; and the face of an eagle…etc.

Nothing like that is found in the Noble Quran.

A 23-year-old political newcomer won the Democratic nomination for state land commissioner Tuesday, while the Pulaski County clerk coasted to a win in the party's runoff for its secretary of state nomination.

Diversity in Chicago Schools

On the last day of the 2006-2007 Supreme Court, Chief Justice John Roberts announced a decision that will inevitably stir up diversity issues within schools across the nation, and the Chicago Schools. It will most certainly change the way most school systems, including those within the Chicago Schools, run their magnet programs. And it will affect how they decide which students to steer towards, and to accept into, each program.

The decision decried racial balancing in schools where race is used for magnet programs. Many of the magnets within the Chicago Schools use race as a factor in accepting students into their programs. There is one group of magnets in the Chicago Schools that selects students based completely on racially weighted lotteries. The students’ applications are sorted according to race, and then drawn in lotteries. This is meant to achieve racial diversity. Acceptance into other magnet programs is based on grades, test scores, academic achievement, and extracurricular involvement. Race is used as a minimal determining factor.

Some administrators in the Chicago Schools fear that this threatens the legacy of Brown v. Board of Education; the decision in which segregation based on color was denounced.

Patrick Rock, the attorney for Chicago Schools, stated that the decision will only affect Chicago Schools if and when a federal justice agrees to release them from a desegregation consent decree which dates all the way back to 1980. He stated that at some point in the future the Chicago Schools may ask to have the decree dissolved but states ”‘the question is when”. Rock also said that the Supreme Court ruling only affects how the Chicago Schools run their programs after the decree is dissolved. That may not be until the fall of 2008. This is when the application process will begin for the 2009 school year. In the meantime Chicago Schools’ magnets will continue to use the same criteria for admittance into the programs.

Administrators say that Chicago Schools use race as a determining factor to keep schools racially diverse. Not as a means to segregation. The Supreme Court ruling does not disallow the Chicago Schools from using race. It simply states that a valid and compelling reason must be given for doing so. In the Chicago Schools these reasons often include ensuring racial diversity in the many areas where it doesn’t exist.

Rock doesn’t feel that the Chicago Schools will eliminate magnet programs in order to avoid litigation, however, there are those on the Supreme Court who feel that many school systems nationwide may begin to dissolve their magnet programs to avoid litigation and its ensuing costs. The Chicago Schools may choose to use race as a way to determine where to build schools to ensure this diversity, how to fund schools in certain areas, and which programs to steer students towards- based more on their talents and achievements and not solely to fill a certain percentage of racial mix.

The widows mite is a term that coin collectors probably know but that most other people would be unsure of – unless they've done a lot of Biblical reading, in which case they might know that it refers to the coins that the widow put into the offering plate even though it was all she had to buy food with. A lot of people like to collect these kinds of coins and similar coins because they speak to a specific time in history which is very important to Christians. It's also an interesting time on a non-religious level because so many things happened during that period of history. The widows mite is a coin that brings to mind the Roman influence and so many other things about collecting coins and about how they were used back in the times when they were actually what people were supplying to others to purchase things and pay their debts. Coin collecting of any kind is becoming very important to more and more people today. The coins are judged by some people based on their beauty.

Others like the history that comes along with them and still others don't get caught up in either one of those things but are much more interested in using their coins as in investment. If they can be bought at good prices their value will only continue to rise, and they are considered to be a better choice for some than the stock market or other ways of investing. Is Minimum Wage Minimum Living?

As United States citizens, our way of legally providing for others and ourselves is through a vocation. We work each week for an agreed upon wage. The median earning in 2007 for men who worked full time was $45,113. For women, the median earning for the year was $35,102 (U.S. Census Bureau). That would mean men earn $21.69 per hour, and $16.88 per hour for women. Now imagine living off almost half of that. Can it be done?
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the federal minimum wage is $6.55 per hour. A single man or woman who works full time, who takes no vacations or sick days, will accumulate a pre-tax total of $13,624 for the year. That sum is roughly $21,000 less than what an average woman makes and $32,000 less than what the average man makes. After the IRS, Medicare, and Social Security take their total share of $1,510, one is left with only $12,114 net pay to be used for expenses and such for the year.
Essential expenses will come out of the net pay first, which includes shelter, food, clothing, and household items like soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. I recently saw a rental place charging $475 per month including utilities, so I will be using that amount as rent for this example. As for food, fresh produce and meats are out of the question due to their particularly high prices. The next best thing would be to purchase a box of pasta (macaroni and cheese or spaghetti) and peanut butter, which could replace the unobtainable fresh meats due to the fact that peanut butter is high in nutritional fat and protein. Though not extremely tasty, both would satisfy hunger needs, are high in calories and can be purchased for less than $5 per day. In other words, a minimum wage earner can feed them self for $1,825 a year. Clothing can easily be purchased at a thrift or discount store for $50 a month, and household necessities can be purchased for around $50 per month as well. This makes clothing and household necessities totaling to $1,200 per year. Collectively rent, food, clothing, and household items will cost a single, minimum wage earner $8,725 per year, leaving a net total of only a measly $3,389 per year.
Next would come secondary expenditures such as emergency funds, entertainment, and other miscellaneous expenses. At least $1,000 per month should be set aside for emergency purposes, and though that may not seem like a lot, with such a tight budget it will have to do. Another $1,000 could be set aside for miscellaneous expenses such as taking the bus or purchasing a bike because affording a car or gas for the car would be nearly impossible on such a small income. Entertainment in a predicament like this would be limited to buying a CD or going to see the matinée at a local movie theater. One could set aside $25 per month or $300 per year for such purposes. Also keep in mind the possibility of free entertainment like the use of public parks will help aid in ones search for low-cost entertainment. These particular expenses total $2,300, leaving us with a net total of merely $1,089 for the year. So once again these expenditures take an immense amount out of a minute net total.
As one can see, there is a thinning fine line between whether one can live off minimum wage or not. A yearly net total of just $1,089 does not leave room for fluctuation in how one spends their money. Even in the best-case scenario outlined in this example, it would be difficult for a minimum wage earner to take any time off of work. One day off for any circumstance will make it inevitably harder to live on minimum wage. If the wage earner is unable to locate and secure inexpensive housing and absolutely does not need a car, these expenses will indisputably make it near impossible to live with one minimum wage job. Also left out of this example were costly habits such as smoking, and the assumption that the earner did not accumulate debt, which both can be extremely costly. Sometimes so costly that it would reach a point where there would be no way of being able to live off minimum wage. Minimum wage at this moment in time apparently does mean minimum living.

Tips for Rookie Buyers of Yankees Memorabilia

Some people collect sports memorabilia for the pleasure of ownership, others for the thrill of the chase. Increasingly, however, the hobby has turned into a money-earner, especially with the explosion of the online universe.

However this brave new world is not for the faint of heart. Here are some tips to navigate the unfamiliar waters of Yankee memorabilia. Your authentic jersey, especially if autographed, or a signed baseball bat can easily be sold at a profit. Here is your guide.

Tip No. 1: Do your research.

Enthusiasm won't carry you far. If owning a 'piece' of your favorite team is enough, then you will be satisfied easily. That's an easy pleasure, but if you're harboring dreams of profit, you'll have to dig deeper. After all, there are plenty of fake memorabilia out there to be bought cheaply. Buying 'right' means research.

There are lots of teams and players--but not many winners or stars. Go through the rosters of the winning teams and focus on players in key games or series. You are looking for specific skills and plays, shrewd managers, great strategy, and the well-publicized dream match. Remember, all winners are not equal--you want the stand-out.

Tip No. 2: Search Online

First find out what potential buyers are looking for. Then cruise around the Web checking availability and prices. Individual items, of course, will stand out. But collections will give you a chance to browse and buy in bunches, without your revealing too much eagerness for a particular item. Also, if you get your information via the Web, you will be better informed when you cruise around flea markets and yard or garage sales.

Another advantage of online sales is that a potential buyer can see seller feedback. This feature is especially helpful for first-time buyers, as the reputation of the seller is on display to the world.

Tip No. 3: Look for Authenticity

Know the difference between a 'signed' and 'collectible' item. A 'Hand-signed' New York Yankees authentic jacket should come with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) issued by a reliable company. This is equally true of all signed items--baseball bats, for instance. Always check the source and examine the COA before buying. Collectibles, on the other hand, are nice items to own, but they are sold without COA and signatures.

Fed Up With Social Anxiety Disorder?

Are you suffering from social anxiety disorder and fed up with visiting different therapists?  Or, worse still, afraid to go to see a therapist?  What can you do from the safety of your own home which will help you to work on your inner feelings, beliefs and emotions, thereby enabling you to have the inner confidence to get out there amongst other people, feeling comfortable in your own skin?

Social anxiety Disorder has been given a lot more attention by the medical profession in the last ten years.  If you suffer from it, you know what it feels like and how it affects every area of your life.  It causes considerable distress and discomfort as the sufferer worries about what other people may think about them.  This fear of being judged and fear of becoming embarrassed can be very debilitating.

For some this fear is only experienced in certain circumstances, with certain triggers, perhaps only when in the vicinity of "people in authority".  For others it may just be certain places which act as the trigger to their inner turmoil; maybe a weekly essential visit to the supermarket or just having to walk down the street is enough to get palms sweating and heart palpitating.   For some, just the thought of having to leave the house is enough to set this uncomfortable ball rolling.  The myriad symptoms of social anxiety may be triggered by actual reality or just anticipation of something which may or may not happen.  In either case, the symptoms experienced are equally real.

Whether the anxiety experienced is generalized or more specific it is still very uncomfortable and debilitating for the sufferer.  Most people have serious difficulty in their quest to overcome it.  This is not surprising because as you focus on trying to overcome social anxiety you inevitably spend more time thinking about it, and what you think about tends to become "bigger" in your mind and therefore in your life as well. 

This is a central aspect of how your mind works.  Think about it for a moment.  If you are thinking about buying a particular car, for instance, perhaps a BMW or Lexus, you will suddenly become aware of every car that you see which fits that description.  Suddenly there seem to be so many more BMW or Lexus cars on the road!  Another "thing" which your mind does all of the time, without fail, is that if you try to not do something, you will have an overwhelming instinct to do exactly that which you are trying not to do.  Try as hard as you can for a moment to NOT see a giraffe...What happened?  Did you see a long neck, by any chance?!

Applying this to your attempt to overcome social anxiety disorder will help you to understand why the task can be so difficult.  The more you think about it the more it happens, and the more you try to not think about it the more it happens as well.  Added to this you probably have no idea why you "got it" in the first place.  There will be a reason why.  A symptom does not occur without cause, although you are most likely unaware at a conscious level of what that cause may be.  Your subconscious mind will however know what the cause is and has created these patterns of behavior which you no longer wish to have.

How can you go about altering these subconscious patterns of feelings and behavior?  A visit to your local analytical hypnotherapist (please check for the one with the highest level of relevant credentials and the most experienced) will show you how to relax in hypnosis, thereby accessing the workings of your inner mind, your subconscious, and then guide you to uncoil the springs of cause and effect which led to these symptoms being experienced.  This will help you to understand why it all happened and will relieve a lot of the anxiety experienced.
